About the programme
This is a home-schoolers friendly programme with classes running during school hours for children aged 8+ (for younger children please send me a message).
Over the course of the term we will complete a number of different projects designed to develop sewing skills from week to week. Projects will include a fabric storage basket, a tote bag, an apron and a skirt and scrunchie/or hair bow. Other projects will be added depending on students progress.
What you will learn during the term:
- How to set up and use a sewing machine
- How to use a pattern template
- Preparation, pinning, and cutting of fabric, including pairs
- Various construction methods using the sewing machine, including hemming, lining, sewing curves and corners, binding and elasticating.
- Different stitch techniques and why we use them
- Design skills by choosing fabric combination
What you will experience:
- A relaxed home from home environment in which to create and learn
- A friendly and patient teacher
- Plenty of focused and hands-on instruction with only 4 students per class.
All equipment provided and a variety of high-quality fabric to choose from. Students are welcome to bring their own fabric but they do not need to.
