About the workshop
Join me in The Sewing Lounge to create a beautiful lined tote bag that can be worn and used with pride. A great first project for children interested in learning to sew. No sewing experience needed. Suitable for ages 7 upwards.
What your child will learn:
- How to set up and use a sewing machine
- How to use a pattern
- Preparation, pinning, and cutting of fabric, including pairs
- Construction using the sewing machine, including straps and box corners
- Pressing with an iron
- Different stitch techniques and why we use them
- How to attach a lining
- Design skills by choosing fabric combination
What your child will experience:
- A relaxed home from home environment in which to create and learn
- A friendly and patient teacher
- Plenty of focused and hands-on instruction with only 4 children per class
What your child will leave with:
- A beautiful handmade reusable bag
- A new skill which opens up plenty more possibilities
- A sense of accomplishment and pride
- A happy mind from a creative morning
Suzanne has a valid working with children check and as a mother of 2 children who have supported the design of each class, is experienced with sewing with children and teaching at their level. Parents are welcome to stay for the duration of the class or drop and go.
All equipment provided and a variety of high-quality fabric and trims to choose from.
