Time & Location
Tuesday 7th October
10am– 12.30pm
East Road, Hocking (address on booking)
About the workshop
Join me in The Sewing Lounge to create not 1 but 2 skirts (technically!). With this reversible skirt you’ll have 2 beautiful patterns or colours to choose from depending on the day. A perfect project for children interested in learning how to make their own clothes, no sewing experience needed. Suitable for ages 8 upwards.
What your child will learn:
- How to set up and use a sewing machine
- How to take body measurements and use them to create a pattern
- Preparation, pinning, and cutting of fabric
- Construction of a garment using the sewing machine
- Adding trims (pom poms)
- Pressing with an iron
- Different stitch techniques and why we use them
- Design skills by choosing fabric and trims
What your child will experience:
- A relaxed home from home environment in which to create and learn
- A friendly and patient teacher
- Plenty of focused and hands-on instruction with only 4 children per class
What your child will leave with:
- A beautiful handmade skirt to wear
- A new skill which opens up plenty more possibilities
- A sense of accomplishment and pride
- A happy mind from a creative morning
Suzanne has a valid working with children check and as a mother of 2 children who have supported the design of each class, is experienced with sewing with children and teaching at their level. Parents are welcome to stay for the duration of the class or drop and go.
All equipment provided and a variety of high-quality fabric and trims to choose from.
